Within 8 miles of this cabin, visit downtown Franklin for shopping, dining, as well as the state-of-the-art Smoky Mountains Performing Arts Center — a 1,500 seat state-of-the-art facility presenting the finest in performing arts to Franklin and its surrounding towns. the Little Tennessee River Greenway for relaxing, scenic walks, the family-friendly Franklin Golf Course. Franklin Gem and Mineral Museum and Scottish Tartans Musuem are cultural highlights, and some of the area’s landmarks include Cowee Mountain Ruby Mine and Rose Creek Mine. Franklin, has a rich tradition in gem mining for years in the historic Cowee and is known as the ‘Gem Capital of the World.’
Downtown Highlands is about 12 miles away in the opposite direction, for high end shopping and fining dining, a scenic drive off the Callusaja gorge with beautiful waterfalls views
Drive 24 miles north to Dillsboro to indulge in some whitewater rafting on the Tuckasegee river or head to Bryson City less than 40 miles away and take a scenic train ride on the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad. If you are feeling lucky head on to Cherokee or Murphy to Harrah’s Casino.
